Finca Cortesin, the esteemed Andalucia resort and host of the 2023 Solheim Cup, has announced the renewal of its ambassadorial agreement with LPGA Tour professional Ana Pelaez Trivino, and Nuria Iturrioz, a four-time winner on the Ladies European Tour.
As ambassadors to the prestigious Solheim Cup venue, both golfers will receive exclusive access to the resort’s world-class facilities for year-round training, reaffirming Finca Cortesin’s dedication to supporting Spain’s best female golfing talent.
The Spanish stars will continue to enhance the resort’s Solheim Cup legacy, utilising its commitment to elevating the women’s game to highlight its position as one of the world’s best lifestyle and leisure destinations.
Pelaez, who clinched her maiden professional victory at the 2022 Madrid Ladies Open, has made a name for herself after a breakthrough year in 2023. Having secured an impressive top-5 finish in the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit last year, she successfully qualified for the LPGA Tour after finishing a commendable T-27 at the LPGA Q-Series.
“Securing my LPGA Tour card has been a dream come true, and I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of Finca Cortesin.” said Pelaez.
“The opportunity to utilise the facilties there has been incredible, providing the perfect environment to hone my skills. As I embark on this exciting journey across both the LPGA Tour and LET, I am confident that regular access to Finca Cortesin will give me the edge I need to excel. My sights are set on representing Europe in the Solheim Cup and Spain at the Olympic Games in Paris, and with Finca Cortesin by my side, I’m ready to make that dream a reality.”
Iturrioz, who won the latest of her four titles on Ladies European Tour at the La Sella Open in July 2023, also brings a wealth of experience and skill to the table. Her solid performances on tour have cemented her status as one of Spain’s most promising golfers.
“Renewing my partnership with Finca Cortesin is a testament to the incredible support they’ve provided on my journey so far.” said Iturrioz. “Their world-class facilities have been instrumental in my training and development, pushing me towards greater heights. As I look ahead to the remainder of 2024 and beyond, I am determined to reward the resort’s unwavering support by securing more victories on the Ladies European Tour.”
Vicente Rubio, President – Finca Cortesin, commented: “These talented athletes embody the spirit of excellence at Finca Cortesin. As we continue to nurture the legacy of the Solheim Cup and support women’s golf in Spain, our commitment to these remarkable ambassadors remains unwavering. Together, we aim to inspire the next generation of female golfers and elevate the sport to new heights of success and inclusivity.”
With the Solheim Cup set to return in September at the renowned Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia, both players, especially Pelaez, who currently sits 6th in European Solheim Cup points list, will be aiming to move into contention for a place on Suzann Pettersen’s European Team, as well as qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, with a string of impressive results.
In 2023, Finca Cortesin etched its name in history by hosting one of the most thrilling editions of the Solheim Cup to date. The resort’s Cabell B Robinson-designed golf course provided a stunning backdrop for the intense competition, with Europe ultimately securing a dramatic 14-14 draw to retain the trophy.
Local hero Carlota Ciganda’s pivotal victory on the penultimate 17th hole against world No.1 and two-time Major Champion Nelly Korda will forever be remembered as a defining moment in the tournament.
