This feature is not only a slogan but it is a reality in a region where a third of its territory is protected and there are 85 kilometres of unspoiled coastline. In addition to the Doñana Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche, home to the most important natural areas, there are eight natural sites, three nature reserves and five natural monuments.

Huelva is a pioneer city in Spain when it comes to golf; people have been playing here since 1916. Much time has passed since the English miners working in the Rio Tinto mines in Huelva founded the first golf course in the entire peninsula. Golf players can enjoy a wonderful pine forest while they play. It is the ideal location to enjoy golf all year long. The social Club offers customers an indoor driving range, sport facilities like tennis, squash, paddle tennis and swimming pools as well as access to the restaurant, games and reading rooms and old trophies rooms amongst others. The itinerary has wide fairways with greens and tees that are closely located, allowing players to enjoy a comfortable and quick game. The sea is very near and it presents a real challenge for all level players as all the clubs in the bag need to be used.

This course is located in Cartaya, in the heart of Huelva’s coast. This exclusive course enjoys an average temperature of 22 ˚C and 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. The Club House in New Portil Golf includes facilities like a driving range, pitch & putt, a putting green, changing rooms, sauna, a pro-shop, caddy master, a restaurant and a coffee shop. The Club also offers customers the possibility of staying at a magnificent exclusive four-star hotel. Its fairways have breathtaking views of the wide dune beaches, of the sea and the pine forests, the hundred-year-old savins and other spots of the Piedras Marshes and Flecha de El Rompido Nature Reserve.

This golf course is located between Isla Canela Beach and Ayamonte and it is surrounded by Ria Carrera marshes Nature Reserve. The location of the course respects and shares natural sea water lagoons that become part of the water obstacles in the golf course itinerary.  Its closeness to the sea and its native vegetation provide an unbeatable setting to enjoy golf to the limit. The course is even; it has high quality greens and excellent Bermuda fairways with strategically located bunkers.

Isla Canela Links

Located next to the Guadiana river and with spectacular views of Portugal and the river’s mouth. Enjoy 18 true links holes in a special protected environment and in full contact with nature. Just 2 kilometres from the highway connecting directly with Seville and Portugal (A-49). Valle Guadiana Links Golf Club is part of the Costa Esuri Urbanization, in the city of Ayamonte, a true Links Golf course in the south of Spain.

It is set in Islantilla Golf Club, the most important residential-sport complex on the coast. It opened in the 90’s and it is famous internationally as it has hosted prestigious tournaments. The Club House in located on top of a high hill with views of the ocean. The restaurant, a modern pro-shop, a sauna and a swimming pool are located there and Islantilla Golf Resort is only 50 metres away, a modern four-star hotel. The golf course has 27 holes, three 9-hole itineraries designed for different types of golf players.

Monacilla

La Monacilla Golf Club

La Monacilla Golf Club is placed in Aljaraque, only 5 minutes away from Huelva and an hour from Sevilla and Faro airport. The course was designed by José Mª Olazábal and it is ideally located in a natural environment near the Odiel river mouth. Fairways have been designed for soft movements and slight unevenness adapting to the topography and thus, providing a pleasant itinerary for players as well as attractive natural surroundings. Its soft slopes, the water, its surroundings, the weather and its excellent greens make La Monacilla Golf Club a reference golf course in the area.

Corta Atalaya Golf

Placed at the foot of Aracena and Picos de Aroche Mountains, Corta Atalaya Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Spain. Its origin dates back to the end of the nineteenth century (1914) when English technicians were working in the Riotinto Mines and founded this golf club as North Lodge Golf Club. It was relocated in a new place in 1992 and from there the “corta” (mine) that gives its name to the course can be seen. One of the biggest attractions of this course is the colour display of the Corta of the Riotinto Mines with its reddish, copper and ochre colours. It is a 9-hole course with (3 par -3, 5 par -4 and 1 par -5). Half of the itinerary is quite even except for two quite steep fairways. Its soil fairways make this a unique golf course.

Gastronomy

Thanks to its privileged location, which combines coasts and mountain ranges within the same province, Huelva is a true paradise of flavour that will enchant all your senses. Vegetables garnished with spectacular olive oils complement seafood and meats and vinegars, which washed down with excellent Condado wines and followed by exquisite strawberries and berries. Mushrooms are an important ingredient of its gastronomy, since our mountains are considered one of the spots with the most abundant production of fungi in Andalucia. Among the area’s many jewels, the one that shines brightest is the most fabled Iberian ham of the Peninsula, the cream of the crop: Huelva ham, labelled with the Protected Denomination of Origin.

Natural areas and Beaches

A biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site, Doñana is a wetland for migratory birds from Africa and Europe, together with more than 27 kilometres of completely unspoilt beach. Skies of a thousand stars envelop the most beautiful landscapes in the heart of nature that make the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche a paradise. Surprising corners such as the Gruta de las Maravillas, dehesas full of light and more than 600 kilometres of signposted trails where the traditional way of life coexists with the spectacular natural environment of the Park.

More than 120 kilometres of endless beaches and three thousand hours of sunshine fill our villages with an almost magical light. Ayamonte, Almonte, Cartaya, Isla Cristina, Lepe, Palos de la Frontera, Moguer and Punta Umbría are refreshing our province with their unrivalled beaches.
