A lot has changed since Michael Meeus took over the licence to run The Range International Academy in February 2022. The school has undergone a complete makeover of its facilities and the services on offer, becoming a focal point for both beginners and those perfecting their game alike.
The Range is ideally situated, in the famous golf valley, two kilometres from Puerto Banús and ten minutes from Marbella, where some of the best courses on the Costa del Sol are to be found. The school even offers the opportunity to practice from 8:00 to 21:00 with artificial light if needed.
The Range International Academy, under the guidance of manager Michael Meeus, undertook a major investment, refurbishing the facilities to become a future centre of excellence for improving technical play. To reach this goal, the entire tee line has been replaced along with the individual mats of the 40 fully covered positions and work has started on a new short-game area and an artificial putting green. Moreover, an innovative system of night lighting has been installed that illuminates the entire area including the practice fairway. The school also has a wi-fi zone and new car park with space for 60 cars, where a customer can also have their vehicle cleaned while practicing.
It has a swing analysis studio as well, where a player can perfect their game using different technology and pick up some fitting advice to find the ideal clubs. Another short-term project is a pitch and putt area.
Junior golfers are a very important part of The Range International Academy thanks to the agreement signed between Marbella town hall and the Andalusian Golf Federation. This allows the junior categories of the Federation’s teams to use the facilities free of charge.
The Range Marbella is a school that welcomes all types of players. From beginners to advanced golfers, they will find trained professionals on hand to improve their game with varying tailor-made programmes in several languages.
Restaurant The Green
Bringing people together through golf is one of the aims of The Range International Academy and the centre has become a meeting place for not just learning and practicing golf, but also for socialising in pleasant surroundings. In The Green, its on-site restaurant open from 8:30 to 17:00, it is always a good time to try something from the menu, which includes high-quality meat and fish dishes and lighter options, such as salads, sandwiches and burgers. For customers with a tight agenda, the chance to order food directly from the practice area is a real plus point.
Physiotherapy Centre
The Range International Academy doesn’t just cover purely sporting needs, but also well-being and injury prevention. The centre offers physiotherapy, chiropractic, fitness and massage services to avoid and treat sports and other injuries. The professional team at the CostaSpine clinic are specialised in chiropractic manipulation for sports performance, sports massages and physiotherapy. Each patient receives personalised treatment and assessment, as no two people are ever the same.
Fitting Clubs
Advice on equipment is also all part of the service at The Range Marbella. A Vega Tour Truck offers the services of a manufacturer: here all the clubs are made to measure with a choice of 1,000 shafts and 300 different heads. Other useful services such as testing irons and woods, changing grips and repairing clubs are also provided by the academy.
