Costa del Sol demonstrates its credentials at the most important annual event of the golf tourism industry with its brand new digital innovation

The International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) – a major showcase for the global golf travel industry – was the perfect setting for the presentation of Costa del Golf 360, www.costadelgolf360.com , a pioneering digital tool which is set to revolutionise how the consumer plans a golfing holiday.

In the context of IGTM, Costa del Sol introduced Costa del Golf 360o, a site offering spectacular, interactive images of the more than 70 golf courses available at the destination. IGTM was attended by more than a 1000 delegates, all leading figures in the golf tourism world, including almost 30 representatives of Costa del Sol – Costa del Golf, who enjoyed joint branding with Andalusia.

The presentation was a huge success, attracting about 100 tour operators and representatives of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO). It included a cocktail reception for networking and a dinner in which the representatives of Costa del Golf tourism industry acted as hosts, offering a warm welcome and their support of the Tourist Board initiative.

This year, IGTM took place in Palma de Mallorca, and the Costa del Sol event was held in Bahía Mediterráneo, a stylish restaurant affording great views of the city’s Gothic cathedral. The extensive presentation of Costa del Sol 360 was greeted with great appreciation and approval by all attendees.

Both specialist tour operators and golf resorts consider the new website to be a valuable instrument for the promotion of the destination, offering state of the art, high resolution images of the golf facilities available, and creating a totally immersive and interactive experience to be used on any mobile device.

Peter Walton, Chief Executive and Founder of IAGTO, said he was delighted to see that Costa del Sol had taken promotion to the next level with its 360o tour of the more than 70 golf courses in the area. “Great imagery lies at the heart of golf tourism promotion so I was delighted to see tonight that Costa del Sol has taken this to a whole new level by producing these wonderful 360 degree experiences of over 70 golf courses throughout the region. This is a great development and will whet the appetite of every golf traveller!”.

Mario Schomann, from Golf Globe GmbH, also applauded the initiative. “I’m very impressed about how the golf destination Costa del Sol is moving forward using latest technology. With the possibility of having virtual 360o views of all the golf courses, clients and travel agencies will be able to discover the Costa del Golf in a unique and very modern way. The client of today is looking for this – it will help us promoting and selling Costa del Sol”

Finally, Neil Crossland, from YourGolfTravel.com, was ‘truly impressed’ by the new tool: ‘It’s the tool of the future, bound to revolutionise our marketing ways.’ He also praised the quality of the images on the site.
