The Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande is situated in one of the most emblematic areas of Southern Europe, combining relax, comfort and a privileged location for travellers attracted by Sotogrande lifestyle and some of the best golf courses in Europe.
Originally designed by the renowned architect and winner of the national prize for architecture, José Antonio Corrales, as a hotel for high-end stopovers, Hotel Encinar de Sotogande has completed a comprehensive refurbishment of all its facilities, which has managed to integrate the history and essence of Sotogrande.
Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande has been a complete refurbishment, is now a completely new product, both in its facilities and spaces, as well as in its concept. What is the new hotel like?
The new Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande has been completely transformed into a modern and welcoming space, while maintaining a deep respect for its natural surroundings and historical legacy. Our building, part of which has been declared Historical Heritage by the Junta de Andalucía, maintains its emblematic character, giving it a unique charm that combines history and modernity. With 106 fully renovated rooms, we offer a balance between luxury, comfort and sustainability. The common areas have been redesigned to create a relaxing and exclusive atmosphere. While we are very proud of this transformation, one of our current challenges is to improve the personalisation of guest experience, so we are integrating technologies and new standards that will allow us to offer services even more tailored to individual preferences.
Hotel is located in one of the most emblematic places for golf in Southern Europe, Sotogrande. What will travellers find in the area?
Sotogrande is an exclusive destination known for its world-class golf courses and home to some of the most prestigious tournaments. However, Sotogrande offers much more than golf: water sports in its exclusive marina or horse riding, cycling and hiking in an incomparable natural setting. For travellers searching for a cultural experience, they can discover the rich history and gastronomy of Andalusian villages. One of the current challenges is how to continue to stand out in such a diverse destination. To this end, we are collaborating with local guides and luxury service providers so that guests can enjoy unique experiences.
Golf is one of the reasons people travel around the world and Sotogrande is a paradise for golf lovers. What does golf mean to the hotel?
Approximately 30% of our guests are golfers attracted by our proximity to some of the best golf courses in Europe. The aim is to increase our customer base, attracting a more diverse audience who not only come to play golf, but also enjoy the wellness, gastronomy and other sporting activities on offer.
Is there a golf desk and do you have agreements with the courses in the area?
Yes, we have a golf desk that offers a comprehensive service, from booking green fees to organising transfers to the courses. We have strategic agreements with the main golf courses in the area, which allows us to offer preferential conditions.
Apart from golf, what other sports do you have at the hotel?
Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande is an ideal destination for other sports. We collaborate with sports federations, especially football, and offer accommodation to national and international teams. We also have agreements with local padel and tennis clubs. In addition, the region is perfect for cycling, water sports and hiking, although we are still working to expand the sporting offer and are currently involved in a unique and exclusive project which we hope to be able to give more details about soon.
Gastronomy is an important part of the Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande’s commitment to quality. How are the spaces dedicated to it?
Yes, we have a restaurant that combines local seasonal products with international culinary techniques. We are proud to work with local suppliers, which guarantees the freshness and quality of our dishes. The gastronomic spaces have a design that fuses elegance and tradition, with cosy interiors and a terrace with spectacular views of the gardens. One of our challenges is to innovate in the gastronomic offer, creating themed events with guest chefs, as well as healthy and sustainable menus, aligned with current trends in conscious consumption.
The hotel has meeting rooms and capacity to host all kinds of events and specific needs. Tell us about this area.
We have several meeting and event rooms that are fully equipped, versatile and suitable for corporate meetings, weddings and large celebrations. Our specialised team takes care of planning and personalisation of each event, making sure that everything runs smoothly. Let’s not forget that our hotel, due to its natural surroundings, location and easy connection to the airports of Malaga and Gibraltar, offers a very interesting alternative for this segment.
The new hotel has searched for maximum efficiency and the greatest respect for the environment in aspects such as design, gastronomy or the most innovative air quality systems. How is this reflected in the guest experience?
It is reflected in every aspect of guest experience. From the architectural design, where we have prioritised the use of organic materials and the maximisation of natural light to create a welcoming and environmentally friendly atmosphere, to our restaurants ‘Acebuche’ and ‘La Bellota’, where we focus on local and proximity products to support local producers and guarantee our guests a fresh and authentic culinary experience. The climate control, ventilation and hot water systems implemented improve energy efficiency and ensure optimal comfort for our guests, or the air quality control with a two-stage filtration system that uses plasma technology to neutralise bacteria, viruses and allergens in each room.
These efforts contribute to environmental sustainability and ensure a high quality, comfortable and healthy experience for our guests, making their stay memorable and environmentally responsible.
