A hotel that grows at the pace of its visitors
Work on the hotel facilities is progressing steadily. The iconic Barros and Arenas rooms, located in the heart of the five-star Barceló Montecastillo Golf, have been refurbished and now feature a spectacular, glass-enclosed terrace connected to the rooms. This new space not only increases the capacity for social and corporate events, but also allows for car presentations, offering exclusive experiences in a privileged setting.
Work on extending the terrace adjoining these rooms is already underway and is expected to be completed in August. With an additional 360 m² of space, this area is perfect for outdoor catering and celebrations offering views of the golf course.
Montecastillo’s philosophy of creating open and relaxed spaces is also reflected in the expansion of the Chill Out Gardens. This project incorporates a Bedouin tent and covers a total area of 650 m², where the relaxed atmosphere and nature will take centre stage at outdoor events, cocktail parties, and moments of relaxation on the terrace in front of the hotel.
One of the most eagerly awaited developments is the construction of a show villa next to the hotel, marking the start of the renovation of the entire collection of exclusive resort villas. In addition, the hotel’s two flagship suites are being completely refurbished to further raise the standards of comfort and sophistication.
The course looks to the future without losing its roots.
The Montecastillo golf course, the historic home of the Volvo Masters, continues to demonstrate its leadership with strategic investments that prioritise quality of play and sustainability.
One of the main improvements is the complete renovation of the driving range, which now has 14 new covered bays offering golfers maximum comfort all year round. This area has been further enhanced by the opening of the exclusive ‘Hall of Fame’, which pays permanent tribute to the golfing legends who have made their mark on Montecastillo.
Environmental commitment is one of the resort’s main priorities. This year, the irrigation system has been modernised by replacing more than 600 sprinklers with state-of-the-art, satellite-managed models that allow for much more efficient use of water. Montecastillo is also working on a major project for 2026–27: the renovation of the irrigation reservoir to double its capacity and the installation of a treatment plant to allow the reuse of regenerated water from the hotel. This will further strengthen the resort’s commitment to sustainability and the circular economy.
Improvements to the course continue with the grass. Broadleaf cleaning, a delicate and meticulous process, is underway to perfect the playability and presentation of the course.
Sports facilities for elite athletes
Montecastillo has always been a popular destination for European football teams seeking first-class training facilities. This year, the resort is enhancing this offering by creating an exclusive gym, Cubo Fitness, which has been specially designed for professional athletes who wish to enjoy a private training space next to the football pitches.
These improvements reaffirm Montecastillo Golf & Resort’s commitment to excellence, combining five-star hospitality, sporting tradition, and a firm respect for the environment. It is a destination that continues to grow without losing the essence that has made it one of the most emblematic places in southern Spain.
