With around fifty-five thousand rounds a year, Mar Menor Golf is one of Murcia’s busiest golf courses. The reason lies largely in the course itself: playable for every level and maintained to a standard that becomes apparent from the opening holes.<\/em><\/p>\n

A course doesn’t sustain that many rounds throughout the year by accident. It doesn’t ask for a low handicap to be enjoyed. Generous fairways and wide greens make room for beginners, while strategy and precision still reward anyone chasing a good card.<\/p>\n

A Course for Every Level of Golf in Murcia<\/h3>\n

Eighteen holes and a par of 72 run out between palm trees and lakes, but the course changes character at the turn. The front nine, laid out by Dave Thomas, punishes a careless tee shot, with tighter fairways, well-placed bunkers and greens guarded by water. The back nine, by Nicklaus Design, opens things up \u2014 wider fairways, more forgiving off the tee \u2014 until the water returns for a closing stretch that asks one final question before letting you go. The two halves have distinct enough character that the round changes pace without losing its thread. Throughout the year, conditioning remains consistently excellent, with firm fairways, quick greens and crisp bunkering.<\/p>\n

Winters here barely slow the season down. A Tuesday in February can play almost like a Saturday in July. Stay on site and planning becomes almost unnecessary. Walk out of your room and the first tee is only a short walk away.<\/p>\n

Golf in Murcia Beyond the Course<\/h3>\n

Stay longer than a single round, and the course becomes a comfortable base for the wider Region of Murcia. The Mar Menor lagoon itself, and Cartagena with its Roman harbour, are both only a short drive away. The region’s market gardens supply a cuisine of their own \u2014 vegetables, rice dishes, fish from the Mediterranean \u2014 that completes the trip as naturally as the golf itself, and a handful of nearby courses make it easy to stretch the stay without leaving Murcia at all.<\/p>\n

Spend a few days here and the fifty-five thousand rounds stop sounding like a statistic. They start sounding inevitable.<\/p>\n
