Murcia city is pure life. As you wander through the historic centre, you will come across the imposing cathedral, whose tower rises like an urban lighthouse, and the old casino, a building seemingly frozen in time. In the squares and on the terraces, the art of tapas becomes a shared ritual.<\/p>\n

Cartagena, on the coast, is an open-air museum. The Roman Theatre, the city walls and the naval museums tell the stories of sailors and ancient civilisations, and the sea permeates the cuisine with flavours that have travelled for centuries.<\/p>\n

In Lorca, known as the city of the Sun, a castle dominates the skyline, preserving Jewish and Baroque heritage within its walls. From its towers, exciting horizons open.<\/p>\n

With over 300 days of sunshine a year and 19 courses with a total of 348 holes within a 35-kilometre radius<\/a>, you can enjoy a variety of courses without travelling far. Courses designed by legends such as Jack Nicklaus and Dave Thomas combine sea, nature and accessibility. Resorts such as La Manga Club reinforce the region’s international prestige and confirm its quality as a destination.<\/p>\n

The perfect combination: sea and mountains!<\/strong><\/h5>\n

There is no need to choose between the two: here, the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor coexist. The latter is the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe and is ideal for relaxation and water sports. The mineral waters are also a source of well-being. Inland, towns such as Moratalla, Ceheg\u00edn and Cieza offer visitors an authentic experience of the region, with narrow streets, wildflowers and vast skies. Sierra Espu\u00f1a, the region’s first natural area to be endorsed by the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) and Murcia’s green lung, completes this natural landscape with its forests and trails, which can be explored on foot or by bicycle.<\/p>\n

The cuisine deserves a chapter of its own. Examples include arroz caldero <\/em>by the sea, marinera<\/em> as a light snack, paparajotes <\/em>(lemon leaves battered \u2014 but don’t eat the leaves!) and caf\u00e9 asi\u00e1tico<\/em> with a touch of liqueur. These pair perfectly with the wines of Bullas, Jumilla and Yecla.<\/p>\n
