{"id":22528,"date":"2021-02-04T13:07:49","date_gmt":"2021-02-04T12:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/golfcircus.com\/?p=22528"},"modified":"2021-02-05T12:28:28","modified_gmt":"2021-02-05T11:28:28","slug":"aramco-tour-series-and-ladies-european-tour-go-global","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/golfcircus.com\/en\/aramco-tour-series-and-ladies-european-tour-go-global\/","title":{"rendered":"Aramco Tour Series and Ladies European Tour go global"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Saudi Arabia continues to make its presence felt on the global sporting stage by hosting some of the world\u2019s most exciting new events, a trend which continues with today\u2019s announcement of four fully-sanctioned Ladies European Tour (LET) tournaments set to take place in 2021. The Aramco Team Series will be held in New York, London, Singapore and King Abdullah Economic City (near Jeddah), with each tournament carrying a USD$1 million prize fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investment by Aramco, as the headline sponsor, along with Golf Saudi and the support of other Saudi partners makes Saudi Arabia one of the biggest backers of the women\u2019s game in Europe today. The series is a significant step forward for both Saudi and women\u2019s sport, and follows the hugely successful Aramco Saudi Ladies International, presented by the Public Investment Fund, at Saudi Arabia\u2019s Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in November 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/golfcircus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/2021-Aramco-Team-Series-Launch.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"372\" src=\"https:\/\/golfcircus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/2021-Aramco-Team-Series-Launch.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/golfcircus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/2021-Aramco-Team-Series-Launch.jpg 640w, https:\/\/golfcircus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/2021-Aramco-Team-Series-Launch-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Chairman of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.igfgolf.org\/nationalmembers\/saudi-golf-committee\/\">Saudi Golf Federation<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfsaudi.com\">Golf Saudi<\/a>, said:<\/strong> <em>\u201cThis is fantastic news for global sport, for women\u2019s golf and for Saudi Arabia. Following the success of the Aramco Saudi Ladies International, we are committed to building the women\u2019s game and promoting female participation in sport in Saudi Arabia. I hope this series inspires people of all cultures and backgrounds to take up the sport and generate enthusiasm for the great game of golf.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first of the four tournaments will take place in New York, followed by one in London and Singapore before culminating in a season finale at the Royal Greens and Country Club in Jeddah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ahmed A. Our sponsorship of this golf series not only raises global awareness of our contribution in this field but will also promote positive values associated with the sport among communities in Saudi Arabia and around the world.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thefour tournaments sponsored by Aramco will form an important part of a record-breaking LET schedule, which is set to be announced in the coming weeks. Teams of four will compete in the tournaments, each one played over 54 holes. Captains will recruit one fellow Tour pro through a draft system similar to the NFL and NBA. Another Tour professional will be selected at random, while all teams will include one amateur player.
