It is known as Isla Baja, on Tenerife\u2019s north-western coastline. Here, in Buenavista del Norte municipality, Meli\u00e1 Hacienda del Conde Hotel and Buenavista Golf\u00a0are bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the majestic Macizo de Teno volcanic formation. The area is home to impressive landscapes that conceal within their ravines the hamlet of Masca, one of the finest examples of natural Canary Isles architecture, numerous trails dropping to hidden coves, traditional ancestral crafts, rustic homes (typical of Tenerife), and an historic town centre that preserves its monuments, buildings and squares, all providing an enchanting idea of how the early inhabitants lived. Northern Tenerife is one of the island\u2019s least-known areas and its closest guarded secret.<\/p>\n

\"Tenerife<\/a>\u00a0Buenavista Golf was designed by Severiano Ballesteros and inaugurated in 2003. The links-style 18-hole course is one of the legendary golfer\u2019s iconic designs, a 6,019-metre par-72 comprising six par-three, six par-fours and six par-fives set out in an exquisite balance between the two clearly distinctive parts of the layout.<\/p>\n

The first nine holes are located in the high part of the course, showcasing the beauty of Macizo de Teno, which rises majestically not far away. The second nine runs along the coast, where the holes overlook the Atlantic Ocean and its breathtaking cliffs. A modern, cutting-edge clubhouse is situated in the centre of the course, with its terraces offering spectacular views of most of the holes and the ocean.<\/p>\n

The northern part of Tenerife is a natural miracle created millions of years ago and, as soon as you place a foot there, you immediately assume a respectful and harmonious attitude towards the surroundings \u2013 marvelling at so much beauty. Buenavista Golf is a good example of this attitude, as the only course in the Canaries with dual ISO 14001 y 9001 certification for management and environmental management, and the first one honoured with the \u201cMadera Verde\u201d (\u201cGreen Wood\u201d) award that recognises environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n

The club has achieved a constant run of successes since its inauguration. In 2016, it holds down 17th position in the \u201cLeading Courses\u201d ranking for Spain, which takes into account such aspects as the quality of its golf classes, maintenance, the clubhouse and amenities, and having been the venue for several top events at a European level, including the European Ladies Tour (LET) with Europe\u2019s leading players taking part.<\/p>\n
