An elite group of international players led by two-time Major winner Martin Kaymer will tee it off next week at Real Club Valderrama for the 90th edition of the Open de Espa\u00f1a, hosted by the Sergio Garc\u00eda Foundation.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Kaymer will be one of the main attractions of this year\u2019s edition. With 11 European Tour titles to his name, including two Majors \u2013 the 2014 US Open and the 2010 PGA Championship \u2013 the German immortalised himself in the golfing history books by holing the putt that ensured that Europe would retain the Ryder Cup at Medinah.<\/p>\n

Kaymer will face stern opposition from international players ranked in the world top 50 such as Englishmen Andy Sullivan and Chris Wood, France\u2019s Victor Dubuisson or Denmark\u2019s S\u00f8ren Kjeldsen, winner of four titles including the Volvo Masters, the season-ending event at Valderrama, in 2008.<\/p>\n

England\u2019s James Morrison will look to successfully defend the title that he won 12 months ago at R.C.G. El Prat. He will be joined by compatriot and five-time European Tour winner Ross Fisher.<\/p>\n

Three 2016 European Tour Season winners will be present this week: South Africans Brandon Stone and Haydn Porteous and India\u2019s SSP Chawrasia.<\/p>\n

Other European Tour big names such as Thomas Pieters, Thorbjorn Olesen, Nicolas Colsaerts, Matteo Manassero, and Paul McGinley have confirmed their attendance, as well as past winners Thomas Levet, Rapha\u00ebl Jacquelin, Niclas Fast, Peter Hanson, Kenneth Ferrie and Jarmo Sandelin.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love the place and I love playing the golf you need to play around there. You need to keep it straight and it gets windy round there, so it suits my game. I\u2019ve got some special memories of my win there and it will be great to go back.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Real Club Valderrama Open de Espa\u00f1a Hosted by the Sergio Garc\u00eda Foundation is promoted by the European Tour, with the support of Real Federaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Golf and the Spanish High Council for Sports.\u00a0The tournament sponsors are: Reale, Rolex, Avis, Canon, Heineken, Osborne, Sol\u00e1n de Cabras and Volvo.<\/p>\n
