Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf will host from 28th November to 1st December the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España 2024, tournament that will close the Ladies European Tour season. This tournament will be the venue to decide the winner of the Tour’s Order of Merit, which crowns the most consistent player of the year.

This tournament is the climax of a long-term project to make it a reference club in Malaga, on the Costa del Sol and will put it on the international golf map.

Real Guadalhorce C.G. will host the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España from 28th November to 1st December 2024. What does this mean for the Club?

Hosting a tournament of the level of the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España is the culmination of the project that Real Guadalhorce Golf Club de Golf started years ago to improve all aspects of the club, and which is now becoming a reality. The aim was none other than to turn it into one of emblematic courses of Malaga and the Costa del Sol.

Personally, has been two very intense years where all, ihave worked side by side.  At this point I would like to thank for the trust they have placed in me to the club and more specifically its president, Ángel Gancedo, who from the beginning imagined the project that is now becoming a reality. That complicity and the task ahead of us made me not hesitate to move to this great club. Of course, this is not achieved alone, I must mention all staff, both on course and club, and especially José Andrés León, director of operations, and Gonzalo Navarro, greenkeeper.

Guadalhorce has hosted amateur Spanish championships in different categories, although never a LET tournament. What has been the club’s motivation?

We are in one of the sweetest and most promising moments in the club’s history. In recent years the city of Malaga has become a point of reference, and our club has contributed to amplify this image. Host a Ladies European Tour event to be a great opportunity to show our work and contribute with Malaga as a premium destination on the international scene.

For us, the showcase in terms of television hours and reach, 160 countries, more than 600 million possible viewers, puts us in the setting we want to show our excellent facilities and image of a great club.

The players will find impeccable facilities and services where they will feel at home and a course with an excellent level of maintenance, fun but demanding and that will put them in trouble. All staff are committed to the event and are looking forward to welcoming players and fans.

How would you define Guadalhorce club?

I would say that it is one of emblematic clubs in Malaga, where members and their families enjoy club life in magnificent facilities, just a few minutes from the centre of Malaga. I am not only referring to 18-hole golf course, also 9-hole par 3 course, paddle and tennis courts, swimming pool or new gym that we have just inaugurated; as well as the children’s area where we have cabins with monitors at weekends and holidays.

As you can see, in Guadalhorce there is not only good golf, also other sports. In fact, we are planning to build a croquet course and even create a meeting room so that members can work, play golf or train, all without leaving the club.

Gastronomy is also an important area of the club. Currently this work is carried out by the prestigious company Bodegas Campos, experts in catering and events.

All these reasons make it one of the most prestigious clubs in Spain.
