Los Lagos
Con sus 6.536 metros, este campo es el más largo de los dos. Manteniendo el diseño original de Robert Trent Jones Snr., ha sido totalmente reformado durante el año 2012. Los Lagos es un campo de suaves desniveles, calles anchas y con algunos obstáculos forestales, pero que está defendido por muchos bunkers y por nada menos que 9 lagos, de ahí su nombre, deseando atrapar todas y cada una de las bolas. Los greenes son amplios y levemente ondulados y sus espaciosos tees permiten incrementar o reducir la dificultad según se prefiera.
With its 6,536 meters, this course is the larger of the two in Mijas Golf. Keeping the original design of Robert Trent Jones Sr., the course has been totally refurbished in 2012. Los Lagos is a course with soft slopes, wide fairways and few forest trees obstacles, but defended by many bunkers and not less than nine lakes, from which the course gets its name, eager to trap each and anyone’s ball. The greens are large and flat with sensitive undulations and the wide tees can be accommodated to reduce or enlarge the difficulty to choice
Los Lagos is a course suitable for kind of handicap players, being one of the most famous commercial courses of the Costa del Sol.
Most important changes are the larger greens, built to USGA specifications, and at the same time, all the teeing areas have been also distended. A completely new irrigation and drainage system has been installed all around the course, to permit the play at any season of the year (Even with/after a hard rain).
New paths have been built on Lagos course which will allow the use of the buggy 365 days per year, avoiding the past problems when rainy days.
Areas that did not use to be part of the game, are now taking place on it, taking advantage of some parts of the land that were a little bit forgotten.
The par of the course is back to the original par 72; the 15th hole will pass from a Par 3 to a Par 5, and the hole number 16, which was a Par 4, will become a Par 3.
The water is now a more evident feature of the game, there are some lakes participating in several holes at the same time.
Los Olivos
Designed by Robert Trent Senior, the main feature which distinguishes this course from The Lakes is the abundance of trees – hence the name – and its smaller size, as well as fewer water hazards. The greens are smaller, undulating and well defended. Although both are the work of the same designer, there is no doubt there are interesting contrasts between the two courses: if Los Lagos are based on hazards of water and sand, Los Olivos is strategic narrow tree lined fairways and elevated greens.
Los Olivos is a course best suited for players gifted with a higher technical ability and precision in their game.
Mijas Golf International has made a great effort to satisfy the needs of its numerous users, and to that aim, the course includes all conveniences. There is a practice area, buggy hire, hand and electric trolleys, putting green, chipping green & practice bunker, restaurant, shop, changing rooms, showers, social club and public parking. In addition, along the two courses, there are toilets at the starter hut and halfway, as well as one Beverage-Buggy during the peak hours of occupation. There is also the opportunity to take part in golf technique individual classes.
The Club House is an old Andalusian cortijo (farmhouse), and beside it, one can feel the continual buzz on the terraces of the Restaurant, where the variety of our clientele can be noticed; Mijas Golf has managed to mix, with success, the residents on the area with visitors from all over the world.
The Restaurant offers gastronomy typical of the area, that is, national as well as international cuisine, totaling a large selection of dishes. Our ample team of professional chefs of great experience can prepare authentic Malagenian and Mediterranean dishes, for which they have won prestige throughout their industry.
The Mijas Golf Shop can be found situated in the main building next to the Golf Reception. In it, you can find all types of equipment and accessories with which to practice golf, such as gloves, balls, shoes, etc. We can also offer a large range of clothing, including all the latest fashions of the season. The latest models of golf clubs with most prestigious brands are available at competitive prices.
As well as this, our two golf professionals are at your service to help everyone who is interested in this marvelous sport. They are qualified to assist in correcting specific technical problems or generally better your game – immediately, if that is possible.
The Mijas Golf Club Practice Area has been totally refurbished in 2012 (New grass, drainage & sprinkler systems) and is now completed with a wooden cover at the driving range to shelter from the bad weather.
We have also at your disposal a Practice Bunker, for those who want perfect the play on the sand. The new Putting Green will be over a 500m2 surfaces and, just beside, we will include a Snack-Bar with a terrace and viewpoint which will be between the 9th green and the 10th tee. The Chipping Green has been also totally refurbished during the season 2012.
