History
The decision to build a golf course on the Quinta do Benamor was taken in 1986. The Martins Dias family, owners of the land, commissioned the legendary Sir Henry Cotton to design the layout of Benamor Golf. The result was an 18-hole course in which Cotton’s imagination and ingenuity were inspired by the beautiful old church next to the present clubhouse site and the spectacular location between rolling hills and the Atlantic Ocean.
The course
Benamor Golf is a par 71, 5,456 metres long, carefully integrated into the landscape. Along the course, the golfer is accompanied by centuries-old olive trees, sturdy carob trees, almond blossom and the refreshing sea breeze. Views of the mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south make each hole a visual and sensory experience. In addition, water hazards, strategically placed bunkers and impeccable greens guarantee a game that is as technical as it is rewarding.
Benamor is not just about the course. Its clubhouse offers a complete experience for the visitor. Golfers will find all the necessary services: reception, specialist shop, locker rooms, caddy master and practice area with driving range and putting green. In addition, its professionals organise courses and clinics for all levels throughout the year.
Gastronomy
If there is one aspect that completes the Benamor Golf experience, it is its cuisine. The Benamor Restaurant, with a capacity for 120 people and a terrace overlooking the course, is the ideal place to end the day. Under the direction of Chef Gilberto Cristina, local gastronomy is at the heart of the dishes, which pay homage to the traditional flavours of the Algarve with a touch of sophistication.
The restaurant has recently been extended, with a new interior that offers even more comfort and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Benamor is also available for the organisation of social and corporate events, from weddings to business meetings, all in a welcoming atmosphere and with the advice of its professionals.
